1st Pianoduo Festival Composition Competition
Pianoduo Festival Amsterdam presents the 1st Pianoduo Festival Composition Competition! During the festive kick-off, artistic leaders Lestari Scholtes and Gwylim Janssens presented the rules, jury members and prizes. The competition
is a co-production with Gaudeamus.
The competition is open for young composers up to 35 years old, living in The Netherlands. The winner will be selected by a expert jury consisting of Martijn Buser (artistic programmer Gaudeamus), Jan-Peter de Graaff (composer), Geoffrey Madge (pianist, specialised in contemporary music) and Pianoduo Scholtes & Janssens. The winner of the competition will get the following prizes:
• premier winning composition by Pianoduo Scholtes & Janssens during the Pianoduo Festival Amsterdam 2020
• second performance on invitation of Gaudeamus
• €1500

Composer can send in their composition outline of maximum 1 minute before February 1st 2020. Please send in both your scores (PDF) and midi-file. The outline can be written for piano four hands or two piano's. Live-electronics are not included in the competition. You can send your application in via info@pianoduofestival.nl (subject: Pianoduo Festival Composition Competition).
On March 1st 2020 we will announce which composers (maximum of 6) will be invited for the Semi Finals. During the Semi Finals (spring 2020) your outline will be performed by Pianoduo Scholtes & Janssens. Moreover you will pitch your concept for your full composition for our jury and audience. For this you can work with the duo. After the jury meeting, the winner will be announced. The winner can complete his composition until July 1st 2020. Duration of the composition should be between 6 and 8 minutes. The premier will take place in October 2020.
