Successful 11th Piano Duo Festival Amsterdam: a whirlwind of extremes
It's a wrap! The eleventh edition of the Pianoduo Festival Amsterdam concluded yesterday with a impressive closing concert in festival center De Duif. Over four days we listened to the extremes in piano duo music as part of the festival theme 'Where opposites meet'.
In a sold-out Muziekgebouw, artistic directors Pianoduo Scholtes & Janssens played the smallest possible miniature of Bach versus a grand Carmina Burana, and on the closing day, birthday composers and opposites Simeon Ten Holt (100 years old) and Sergei Rachmaninoff (150 years old) were the subjects of the music. We are proud to have put on an very varied festival, giving a stage to both young talent and top (inter)national duos, and reaching a larger and more diverse audience than ever. From toddlers at our brand-new toddler concerts to Brazilian jazz lovers at our Tapas & Jazz concert with Elizabeth Fadel and Mike del Ferro, and from local residents at our lunch concert in Amsterdam-West to the regular piano duo lovers at our concerts in De Duif. We thank all our patrons, the amazing musicians, our Ambassadors and Friends, our partners, our dedicated volunteers and our fantastic team. And we thank you, our audience, because without you we would never have come this far. We sincerely hope that you will continue to visit and support us. We look forward to seeing you again in 2024 at the PFA Spring Weekend and 12th annual Festival!
