PFA Spring Weekend great success!
From 13 to 15 May, the first Pianoduo Festival Spring Weekend took place. At no less than four special locations throughout Amsterdam, our audience could enjoy concerts and workshops.
The weekend started with a blistering concert by the Serbian LP Duo, which explored the boundaries of classical, pop, rock and electronic music on acoustic grand pianos and synthesisers in the Tolhuistuin. On Saturday, three advanced amateur duos played in De Duif during our piano duo workshop, and were taught the finer points of piano duo playing by our artistic directors Lestari Scholtes and Gwylim Janssens. In the evening, De Duif was transformed into a veritable ballet hall: top ballet dancers Gabor Kapin and Karlijn Dedroog danced the premiere of Sheherazade, a choreography created by Gabor Kapin himself, performed to live music by Piano Duo Scholtes & Janssens.
The final weekend day was kicked off by Club Classique and Pianoduo Amacord in the atmospheric Vondelkerk, playing their favourite music and introduced with personal stories. The weekend ended at the Kazerne Reigersbos in Amsterdam Zuidoost, where jazz multi-talented Bnnyhunna, together with keyboardist Anan Ya'ari and bassist Marolinah Copra, performed a spectacular final concert.
On to the anniversary edition in the autumn!
