In the series “Piano Duo Scholtes & Janssens invites...”, artistic directors Lestari Scholtes & Gwylim Janssens invite each year a musician who inspires them. Tonight it is Dutch-Indonesian cellist Jan van der Plas! Listen to beautiful music while enjoying a delicious meal, snacks and drinks in the cozy community center NoLimit. The program includes works by Debussy, Ravel, Einaudi, Glass and the Indonesian composer Mochtar Embut.

This concert is free to attend and will take place at NoLimit.

Piano duo Morgan en Van Nee

13:00 - 14:00Lunch concert: Piano Duo Morgan & van Nee

“Playful, spontaneous, colorful and enormously virtuosic,” the jury of the Grachtenfestival Conservatory Competition 2024 praised the duo Katie Yao Morgan and Jorian van Nee. At this lunch concert, the duo will play a unique program in which they do not shy away from the extremes of piano duo playing. With compositions by Jorian, who in addition to being a pianist is also a composer, and virtuosic works by Ravel and Katchaturian, among others, the duo will leave an unforgettable impression. Vegetarian lunch included! This concert takes place in De Duif.

20:15 - 22:30Opening concert: Piano Duo Nathalia Milstein & Giuseppe Guarrera

In recent years, Nathalia Milstein has become one of the most promising pianists of her generation. With performances at Carnegie Hall and Wigmore Hall, among others, she captured the hearts of many with her powerful interpretations and virtuosity. On this evening, she brings along her piano duo partner, Italian Giuseppe Guarrera, who in recent years impressed at the Verbier Festival and the Klavierfestival Ruhr, among others. The duo presents a varied program of celebrated piano duo repertoire such as Mozart's beloved Sonata for Two Pianos and Brahms' little-played Variations on a Theme by Haydn. After the intermission, they take inspiration from rhythm, in Ravel's Rapsodie espagnole and Rachmaninoff's rousing Russian Rhapsody.

This concert will take place in De Duif.

11:00 - 12:00Neighborhood concert: ‘For the neighborhood, by the neighborhood!’

Four enthusiastic musicians from Amsterdam-North, Eduardo Paredes (violin), Leonard Besseling (cello), Lestari Scholtes (piano) and Gwylim Janssens (piano) come together in community theater De Rietwijker for a festive morning concert for young and old. With funny anecdotes, short classical works, film music, coffee, tea, lemonade and snacks we will make it a celebrative morning. Free admission! This concert takes places in De Rietwijker.

Piano duo Kalabova-Gugg

16:00 - 17:00High tea concert: Pianoduo Kalábová-Gugg

High-quality piano duo spectacle at this high-tea concert! Czech-Austrian duo Tereza Kalábová and Johannes Gugg have been playing together since their early teens. The duo has won numerous international awards and currently performs worldwide. Today, the duo surprises with a Bohemian program: from Dvořák's famous Slavic dances to Smetana's beautiful Moldau. A program introducing us to Bohemian rhythm and folk music. Enjoy a delicious high tea with sweets, coffee and tea during the concert as well!

This concert takes place in the Amstelkerk.

Duo Tonelli-Sinkunas

21:00 - 22:15Tapas & Jazz: Argentinean Feast with Aleksandra Tonelli & Noelia Sinkunas

An evening full of Argentine passion! Aleksandra Tonelli and Noelia Sinkunas, both Argentinian, perform tonight behind two grand pianos in a concert full of Argentinean, rhythmic music: folk, tangos, jazz, their own compositions and improvisations. It is the duo's first concert of their brand new European tour. The evening will be completed with Argentinean snacks.

Peter & de Wolf

Who didn't grow up with the exciting fairy tale “Peter and the Wolf”? The boy Peter runs out of Grandpa's garden without permission, while wolves are roaming outside. Grandpa calls him back into the garden just in time, because there the wolf is already coming.... With his dark eyes he lurks at a bird, a duck and a cat. Which of the three will end up in his belly? And will it all end well for Peter and his grandfather? This concert will be in Dutch en takes place in 't Zonnehuis.

Let yourself feel and disappear for in this mesmerizing hour. A new work for two pianos and electronics by Thomas van Dun is all about trance. Get completely carried away and sharpen your ears by repetitive and alienating sounds. Piano Duo Scholtes & Janssens performs Thomas' three-part piece “Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow...” - a quote from Shakespeare's Macbeth - on two grand pianos, in combination with electronics. A hypnotic finale to the 12th Pianoduo Festival Amsterdam!

This concert takes place in The Vondel Church. Yoga mats and blankets are provided. You can of course bring your own mat!
